- You can use the website with just the keyboard, a text reader, and change font size or contrast settings.
In order to make the site and its content accessible, the following changes have been made:
- Checking color contrast and fixing problems
- Testing the website with a keyboard and fixing problems.
- Adding explanatory text to each image on the site
- Adding explanatory videos to most main pages
The tools I used to test accessibility are:
- The accessibility standard itself as detailed on the W3C website .
- The test criteria as they appear on the Israeli accessibility website .
- Using WAVE – to check the contrast on the site, to check the site structure, and to perform a general scan according to the WCAG2 standard.
- Support from a professional website builder, studying the topic and performing the tests and reviews.
epilogue
A lot of time and effort has been invested in making the site accessible. This site is the “No Radiation for You” store site. The store site has been active since 2012 and contains pages and products that are updated from time to time. I build and maintain the site myself in order to make the products accessible to radiation victims like me, or to those who are aware of the harms of non-ionizing radiation and want to reduce their exposure to it.
There is no company with many resources behind the site, just me. And yet, changes, corrections, great effort, and thorough accessibility work have been made. The site was transferred to the WordPress platform from a different platform in 2020, and it may have accessibility problems on a small number of pages. Therefore, if there are still accessibility problems on the site, I would be very happy if you would contact me by email, so that I can fix the problems that may still exist on the site.
